We strive to imitate the life and love of Christ by teaching, serving, and empowering the people of the Philippines and the different communities we are a part of.

That every person we encounter would find strength and hope in the person of Jesus Christ to rise up and follow Him, resulting in life transformation that brings both healing to the past and purpose for the future.

We believe your present circumstances do not have to determine your future success. Nothing that has been done to you, spoken over you, or forced upon you simply because of your place of birth, is too big to stop you from reaching the God-given potential in your life. You can always rise above.

At the Rising, we take seriously the promise in God’s word to give fullness of life to those who believe in Him. Though this in no way means that we will have lives free from struggle, suffering, or pain, we do believe it is at the very heart of God to give second chances, true hope, and lasting relationship to any person on this earth who calls on His name.

Every aspect of ministry at The Rising, including village outreach, education scholarship, community feeding, livelihood and vocational programs are saturated with Gospel teaching and biblical encouragement. We know that to give food for their stomachs or enrichment for their minds is only temporary at best, without Jesus Christ to satisfy their souls. By offering opportunity for education, discipleship, and empowerment, we envision families and communities in the Mindanao region of the Philippines transformed and thriving both physically and spiritually, for the greater glory of God.

These 5 core values serve as pillars to remind us what we stand for as a ministry,
what is most important to us, and where we always want to strive to do better in the future.

We feel called to give ourselves fully to the mission of God. We are committed to passionately serve Jesus Christ and His people sacrificially, and with excellence. We honor one another as higher than ourselves and we strive to be the same in the light of leadership as we are in our unseen moments with God. (Colossians 3:23-24, 1 Corinthians 15:58, Proverbs 11:3)

We choose to live and serve according to the truth found in
Scripture. We intentionally allow this truth to shape the way we manage
conflict, our relationships with one another, and the people we’re committed
to love. (2 Timothy 3:16, Philippines 2:1-8)

Because individual people mattered deeply to Jesus, they
matter to us. We prioritize disciple making through relationship and
modeling of biblical principles. We will always point them to Jesus, give them
tools they need to be successful, and then get out of the way. (Mark 9:35, 2
Peter 1:3-4, Matthew 18:12)

We don’t back away from hard or dangerous places just because of
the risk. We move in wisdom and discernment as we follow God boldly into
hard to reach areas and love the people who are often mislabeled as a threat.
(Psalm 27:1, Isaiah 30:21, 2 Timothy 1:7)

We are responsible with the resources entrusted to us
(money, people, and time), recognizing they are God’s gift and provision and
not our own. We will always be generous in our giving of care, time, and
finances. (Psalm 24:1, 1 Chronicles 29:12)
